The Origins Of Crazy Golf

Tiger Woods simply would not be playing this one would he, well he most likely will be at the moment because of the fact he cannot play the real thing.

Believe it or not there have been a lot of arguments around who technically brought in the whole idea for crazy golf but it was first seen in 1867 in St Andrews Golf Club. This course was really made for women because at the time they were not really allowed to play the game, it consists of an 18 hole putting green course.

These very slowly started to pop up more and more as the years went by and eventually it was customary for many American as well as British hotels to have these miniature-sized golf courses and they were using the same designs as ones that could be found in the real ones. The mini putter was there of course but on top of this there was a very small driver too.

One of the very first commercial produced mini golf courses that we are used to seeing today was to be seen in 1916 in North Carolina. After the artifical style greens had been introduced it really did start to kick off and before the depression in 1929 there were over 150 mini golf courses on the rooftops of New York!

The one problem is that you cant load up those marine batteries and leisure batteries and put them in your mini golf trolleys you can actually have a golf trolley just for the putters that people use to play the sport.

All the major destinations in the world will have at least one mini golf course no including huge places such as Disney World in Florida, it just goes to show how popular the game has become.
